About Jomambo Island: The Philippines is an archipelago composed of 7,100 islands and islets, 462 of which have an area larger than one square kilometers while others have an area of less than 3 hectares. The irregular coastline of the country extends to about 35,000 kilometers, twice as long as the entire coastline of the United States. Western Visayas or Region 6 shared this islands and islands together with the rich fishery resources from its nine major fishing ground: Visayan Sea, Cuyo East Pass, Tanon Strait, Sibuyan Sea, Saipan Sea, Panay Gulf, Guimaras Strait, Iloilo Strait, and the Jintotolo Channel. ![]() One of these islands is the Bagumbanua Island, which was issued an original certificate of title No. 24272 on November 29, 1927. Ownership of the island was conveyed to various individuals until purchased by Jose G. Montalbo sometime in the first quarter of 1999. Bagumbanua Island is an elongated island covered with white sand and green meadows with vegetation dominated by Roma Species. Average water temperature at the surface is 26-27 degrees celcius. Prevailing winds are from the north-east starting November to April and the south-west starting from May to October. The North-East Monsoon frequently brings gusty winds. Marine/coastal environment is characterized by a shallow sandy coralline substrate with gradually sloping topography. More than 40 percent of the bottom on the northwestern and northeastern portion is covered by seagrass of identified species namely: Enhalus acoroides, Cymodocea rotundata, Haludole uninivers, and Thalasia hemprichii.
